Single Channel RAM vs DUAL Channel

There is a widespread belief that Dual channel RAM is faster than Single channel RAM.

In fact there is hardly a difference at all.

The below chart is a SINGLE 8 Gig stick of RAM and the results in Performance Test 7.0

The below chart is for DUAL Channel 2x4Gig sticks (8Gig Total) of RAM and the results in Performance Test 7.0

If you look closely you will notice the results are near identical.

We also conducted a test in 3DMark11.

1x 8 Gig Stick of 1600Mhz RAM = 6375

2x4 Gig Sticks of 1600Mhz RAM = 6402

As you can see the Dual channel is marginally faster but hardly worth mentioning.
