Below we have use Passmark PerformanceTest to test the speed of a normal hard disk drive and an SSD.
Windows 7 and 8 both create a swap file (pagefile.sys). Unfortunately the more RAM you have in your system the larger this file becomes which can fill up your drive.
The above is a Windows 8 installation with only 8 Gig of RAM
The above is the same Windows 8 installation but this time with 16 Gig of RAM
The above is the same Windows 8 installation but this time with 32 Gig of RAM
To help resolve this issue you can always move the pagefile.sys to another drive
