How to Connect & Setup Audio (Surround Sound)

Below are pictures of the typical Audio ports found on a computer.

At the bottom right of your taskbar you will find a Speaker Icon, right click on it and select PLAYBACK DEVICES (above Picture)

If you have a HDMI monitor connected that supports audio you may see the above, where it has defaulted to the HDMI Monitor.

Connect your speakers and right click on the SPEAKERS, as shown above, and SET AS DEFAULT DEVICE.

Right click on the Default Speakers, as above, and select CONFIGURE SPEAKERS (or just click on the CONFIGURE button)

This is where you can configure how many speakers you actually have and you can also test them.

Sound Blaster Audigy RX & similiar cards

Above is the typical output os a Soundblaster Audigy RX Card - (please refer to your manual for different Sound Blaster models)

When you open up the Sound Blaster Control Panel you can set your Speaker Selection as above.

If you have connected multiple speakers such as surround speakers, you may find that Windows will take over and set your speakers to stereo even though you have set the Soundblaster Control Panel to 5.1 Speakers etc. as shown above.

To rectify this follow the below instructions...

At the bottom right of your taskbar you will find a Speaker Icon, right click on it and select PLAYBACK DEVICES (above Picture)

Connect your speakers and right click on it, as shown above, and SET AS DEFAULT DEVICE.

Right click on the Default Speakers (Sound Blaster Audigy RX), as above, and select CONFIGURE SPEAKERS (or just click on the CONFIGURE button)

This is where you can configure how many speakers you actually have and you can also test them.
